Six PEI Organizations Awarded Multi-Year Funding to Deliver Mental Well-Being Initiatives

Charlottetown, PEI, April 15, 2025 — The Alliance for Mental Well-Being is delighted to announce the six successful non-profit organizations awarded multi-year funding through its Granting Program, totaling $1.72 million in support over the next three years.

This year, the Alliance received 44 full applications, totaling $10.9 million in funding requests.

Applications were reviewed through a carefully designed, multi-step adjudication process. An independent Peer Review Committee assessed each project using clear grant program criteria and made final funding recommendations to the Alliance’s Board of Directors for approval.

“The strength of submissions reflects the growing innovation and commitment within our community to improving mental well-being outcomes for people across PEI,” said John Horrelt, Alliance Board Chair. Community non-profit organizations are the driving force behind transformative change, and we are proud to support this year’s grantees as they strive to meet the pressing needs in our communities.”

The six funded projects focus on innovative, prevention-based approaches rooted in the science of brain development. Projects span diverse sectors and populations, including the farming community, school-aged children, early childhood educators, youth, neurodivergent individuals, and adults highlighting the importance of mental well-being across every age group, occupation, and region of Prince Edward Island.

The funding will support a wide range of programming and knowledge-building activities – from workshops and peer mentoring to community dialogues, tutoring, and support networks. While the six projects are unique in design and target audience, they all incorporate one or more of the three evidence-based action areas that contribute to brain development, resilience and mental well-being — strengthening core life skills, supporting responsive relationships, and mitigating the sources of toxic stress.
