Bryn Turner
Grant Program Coordinator
As our Grant Program Coordinator, Bryn is responsible for administering our flagship funding program. Her role involves managing the backend operations; liaising with grant applicants and recipients; fostering connections between grantees and the research community; and evolving the grant program in alignment with the community’s needs. Employing the Alliance’s “fund and follow” approach, she ensures our grantees receive valuable non-monetary support throughout their grant cycle and beyond.
Before joining the Alliance in June 2023, Bryn worked in fund development for several non-profits and charities in the health, community, sport, and social services sectors. Her firsthand experience on the other side of grant applications has given her valuable insights into how we can best support our grantees and help them leverage their work to make a meaningful impact. Bryn also holds a degree in Business and post-graduate certificates in Fundraising Management, Marketing, and Project Management, which she leverages to coordinate the complexities of our grant program and foster innovation.
She loves the creative freedom of her role and the opportunity to work with community partners across the Island. Bryn especially appreciates that on PEI, small-scale projects can significantly impact individual and community mental well-being.
While originally from Toronto, Bryn has family roots in Western PEI and spent many summers on the Island during her childhood. Now settled into Island life full-time, Bryn loves being in nature, running, horseback riding, and spending time with her dog and cats.
What do you want every non-profit/charity on PEI to know about the Alliance’s grant program?
“Often, especially with grant applicants, there can be a fear of innovating too much or trying something that’s going to fail. What I want them to know and embrace is that you can’t learn without failure, so we encourage failing. We want our grantees to try new ways of doing things and feel safe doing so no matter the outcome.”
