Sarah Visser

Research & Evaluation Coordinator

As our Research & Evaluation Coordinator, Sarah helps facilitate partnerships between the research community and our community partners, ensuring they both benefit from the cross-pollination of knowledge and understanding. She also plays a role in the design of the Alliance’s training programs on the science of brain development. Since joining the team in April 2024, Sarah has supported the Alliance’s broader measurement and evaluation plan, ensuring our initiatives are impactful and grounded in solid evidence.

Sarah holds a Master’s in Neuroscience and Mental Health from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland and a Bachelor’s in Chemistry from Acadia University. While living in Scotland, Sarah also volunteered with the Scottish Mental Health Association. This ‘boots-on-the-ground’ experience sparked her desire to work directly in the community and help apply academic research in real-world settings.

Leveraging her academic background and previous work experience, Sarah helps make complex research findings more accessible and applicable to our community partners working to support mental well-being. Sarah also works with the community to identify gaps in the research that can inspire future academic and community research studies.

Sarah deeply appreciates that everyone on the Alliance team embraces a collaborative spirit, shared sense of purpose, and commitment to making a collective impact. She loves seeing academic research findings applied to real-world initiatives and making a difference in the mental well-being of those living on PEI.

Originally from Orwell Cove, Sarah enjoys being in nature, hiking, playing sports, and spending time with her dog, Rylie.

What do you love about working with the community?

I love that the community is so open to the work we’re doing. We’re focused on building collective impact and our community partners are willing to come together and collaborate.  We can do a lot more together than when working alone.”
