Shaunna Newton

Operations Coordinator

Shaunna Newton joined the Alliance in July 2022, bringing her wealth of experience in non-profit operations, human resources, and financial management to our newly formed organization. As our Operations Coordinator, she works closely with the Manager of Finance and Administration to oversee the day-to-day HR and financial aspects of the Alliance. Shaunna also manages our office space and helps support our workplace wellness.   

Before joining the Alliance, Shaunna worked for several nonprofits including a Montreal-based meals-on-wheels organization connecting youth and seniors through food and intergenerational activities. Passionate about holistic wellness, her past work experience also includes developing a yoga and meditation-based program for incarcerated individuals in Yellowknife and managing a physio clinic in Charlottetown. 

Shaunna loves working with the Alliance team and is inspired by the genuine care her colleagues show each other.  She also appreciates the high standards of excellence that everyone brings to their work and their dedication to the Alliance’s mission, vision and values.  

A Quebec native, Shaunna has lived in nine provinces and territories. Now settled on PEI, she enjoys practicing yoga and meditation, reading, crafting, and spending time outdoors. She’s a cancer survivor and the proud mom of two teenage boys as well as her loyal corgi, Lola. 

 

What do you love most about working in mental well-being and with the Alliance’s community partners? 

“It’s important to me, having gone on my own mental wellbeing journey, that the support is available to people in the community. And so I’m really inspired to see all of the different approaches our community partners take to help support people’s mental well-being. It can be something different for each individual – art, sport, socializing, being in nature – there are so many ways to foster mental well-being.”
