Tiago Hori
Director
Tiago is currently the Director of Innovation at Atlantic Aqua Farms, one of PEI’s main shellfish growers and processors. Tiago has a BSc. in Biology, an MSc. in Evolution and Genetics, and a PhD. in Biology. That is a lot of letters after one’s name, so they are omitted.
Tiago was born in the city of São Paulo and immigrated to Canada in 2006 for reasons that he himself does not fully understand. Landing in Newfoundland, he was greeted by 30 cm of snow, and from that day on, he has become more winterized. That was also the second downsizing that would one day reach its inverted peak in Charlottetown.
It started with 11 million people in Brazil and now sits at less than 40,000. He, being on the Autism Spectrum, much prefers the latter. He has been a member of several boards of directors, including as the current president of the Aquaculture Association of Canada. Tiago has struggled with mental illnesses for the best part of his life. He hopes to contribute to the elimination of the stigma he knows so well by sharing his story with others who struggle, so they know they are not alone. He plays guitar and Ultimate Frisbee poorly, and enjoys singing, even if he is the only one enjoying it.
