Megan MacKenzie

Director of Knowledge Mobilization & Impact

As our Director of Knowledge & Mobilization Impact, Megan brings a wealth of experience and education in adult learning, curriculum design, and capacity-building to this key pillar of work. In this role, Megan oversees two distinct but interwoven pillars of work: our training and development activities and our research and evaluation activities. An integral member of our senior management team, Megan also plays a key role in advancing the Alliance’s mission and vision.

Megan and her small but mighty team are dedicated to delivering our core knowledge-sharing initiatives, including our brain science training, research activities, and PEI Brain Builders Network. She also leads our efforts to advance research on brain science and ensure it is accessible to our community partners. Additionally, Megan oversees our internal evaluation frameworks, so we can accurately capture, assess, evolve, and articulate the impact of our programs and activities.

Megan’s formal education includes a Bachelor of Science in Family Science, and a Master of Education with a focus in curriculum and post-secondary studies. Her extensive work experience spans more than a decade working in instructional design and a range of roles in student affairs, leadership development, community-engaged learning, and fund development. In one of her recent positions, Megan managed a national professional development program and supported approximately 20 communities of practice for the Canadian Association of College and University Student Services.

Megan approaches her leadership role with a commitment to continuous learning and a desire to contribute meaningfully to the Alliance’s evolving work, fostering growth in both herself and others.

Before joining the Alliance, Megan became familiar with the organization through her work with a local non-profit. She was especially impressed with the team’s commitment to actively collaborating and building capacity within the community sector. Now, as an Alliance team member, Megan is energized by the organization’s purpose-driven culture and focus on amplifying its community partners’ voices to create a collective impact.

Outside of work, Megan wears many hats. She’s a knitter, dedicated reader, life-long learner and outdoors lover. She also strives to live a low-waste life, embracing sustainable swaps wherever she can. Most importantly, she’s mom to two young girls, who she is raising in Summerside alongside her husband.

If you could tell every single person on PEI why the work of the Alliance is important, what would you tell them?

There are such inequities between community organizations when it comes to funding, support, and access to resources. The Alliance is driving change to empower our community partners by developing and nurturing partnerships for collective impact and building a shared knowledge base of mental well-being. Through our programs and initiatives, these essential community organizations can find connection and support to amplify their message and the work they do in communities across the Island. Ultimately, by building capacity in these organizations, we can drive collective impact in mental well-being for everyone on PEI.
