Rebecca McQuaid

Training & Development Lead

Rebecca works closely with our Director of Knowledge Mobilization & Impact to design, build, and deliver our core brain science training program and other knowledge-sharing initiatives. She also plays an integral role in creating and facilitating opportunities for connection and collaboration. Much of Rebecca’s work is designed to support the development of a vibrant Community of Practice that will help drive our collective vision for mental well-being forward.

With a Bachelor of Education, Master’s in Applied Health Services Research, and diverse work experience that spans science, health, and environmental education, Rebecca brings a wealth of knowledge in designing impactful learning experiences. During her Master’s studies, she also developed a deep understanding of the social determinants of health and the importance of upstream, preventative approaches.  All of her education and experience informs Rebecca’s work as our Training & Development Lead.

Passionate about making complex topics more accessible to everyone, Rebecca is dedicated to helping our community partners understand brain science and integrate new knowledge into their work. Through her role with the Alliance, she loves connecting directly with those working on the ground to understand their challenges and celebrate their successes!

As a recent graduate, Rebecca is looking forward to reacquainting herself with life beyond textbooks. To support her mental well-being, she loves to spend time outdoors (cycling is a favourite hobby) and can frequently be found around town catching a live music show.

If you could tell every single person on PEI why the work of the Alliance is important, what would you tell them?

The focus is on upstream, on taking a proactive approach to support mental well-being.

You don’t want people to get to the point where they need an intervention. We already know how difficult it is systemically to address challenges downstream, but that’s historically where a lot of the focus has been placed.
